We had a successful and happy Kid Camp 2009.  Thank you parents for sharing your children with us this summer.  We will post information about Kid Camp 2010 in the spring.  In the meantime you can read about our 2009 camp below.   For the past several years we have offered 6-8 weeks of camp, with parents able to choose which camps and how many weeks of camp for their child.    Cost is by the week, this past summer it was $125 for 9am to noon, for five mornings.

Living on a Farm – June 15 - 19

Wear your overalls and get ready to discover farm tools such as diggers, backhoes, wheelbarrows, rakes and shovels. We will bake our own bread, churn butter and explore the purpose of all animals on the farm (cows and milk, chickens and eggs, etc). We will also taste test different kinds of cheeses and fruit juices.

 

Creepy Crawly Bugs – June 22 - 26

Some people love bugs, and others may scrunch up when they see it! We will use the book “Charlotte’s Web” by Gary Wineick,  as a way to learn that bugs have a purpose on our planet. We will take a deep look at spiders, worms, rolly pollies and lady bugs and learn to appreciate these teeny tiny creatures.

 

Little Landscapers – June 29 – July 2

Plants, plants and more plants! Lets get ready to use gloves and garden shovels so this week we will be beautifying our school grounds through taking care of our vegetable and herb gardens and planting our flower gardens in the Discovery and Adventure playgrounds.

 

Top Chef Kids of America – July 13 - 17

Appetizers and desserts anyone? Our top chefs will learn how to follow recipes and wash produce. We will make our own Salsa, experience different banana deserts such as banana splits and chocolate covered bananas and much, much more!

 

Investigating Paleontology: Dinosaur Diggers – July 20-24

Welcome to the land of dinosaurs. This week we will go on dinosaur hunts, using special paleontology tools to explore and dig up dinosaur bones. Our dinosaur lab will be open with our washing bins, microscopes and brushes. Expect to spend most of our the week outdoors exploring our world as the dinosaurs used to.

 

Kindergarten Count Down: Math – July 27 – July 31

It’s almost the start of a new year. Let’s all refresh our math skills such as measuring, simple addition and subtraction, counting, weighing objects, patterning and recognizing different shapes.

 

Kindergarten Count Down: Letters and Phonics – August 3 - 7

It’s almost the start of a new year. Let’s all refresh our reading skills such as letter and sound identification, rhyming and  small word recognition. We will practice writing the letters in our names and spelling out letters using art products.
