The Acts of Kindness board has inspired all of us to focus on being kind to others. Than you for your support and acknowledgement of this important Fruit of the Spirit. The children loved replanting the flower boxes in front of the classroom. Mr. John and the Building Blocks friends also helped. The Explorers Valentine's Party will be next Thursday, Feb. 11th at 11:00 am. Please have your child bring his/her valentines next week. Each child has a decorated valentines mail box in anticipation for the valentines exchange. Due to our small class size, I would encourage the valentines to be addressed and signed by your child. A class list is included in your child's bag this week. Thank you parents for signing up to bring goodies for the party. We will continue with the alphabet letter Nn next week. Thanks so much for your help.

Monday through Thursday 9 am to noon Enhanced Learning: Friday, Optional
We are pleased to offer this unique Explorers option for children as a transitional educational experience between our Preschool and Kindergarten.
Children will be eligible for this "Explorers Kindergarten" with the recommendation of Mrs. Ruth Gilstrap, Interim Director. This class will be enrolled with children who will benefit from a "gift of time year" in which to mature both academically and socially in an innovative and appropriate setting, or, with children who are chronologically mature in their Preschool class and who could benefit from more challenges.
Some highly academic Kindergartens and the new emphasis within the State of California to attain academic standards at the elementary school level, underscores the importance for children to have the appropriate developmental skills and abilities before they begin their important academic journey.
Mrs. Donna Brumbaugh is the teacher for Explorers Kindergarten and works closely with the Interim Director and the Preschool staff to insure the needs of each child are met. Donna holds a California State Teaching Credential, and has also taught Preschool. Children learn and grow at various rates, so their readiness for Kindergarten is carefully monitored throughout school year.
The children in Explorers Kindergarten have the benefits of small group instruction. The children attend school Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am to Noon. Every morning Mrs. Brumbaugh opens the Explorer class, providing storrries, music and guitar, creative dramatics, and conversation. All children particip;ate in the integrated total language phonics program called "Itl" and a music program with Mrs. Lee, our music specialist. In addition the children have the opportunity to explore hands on math and science activities.
Children who are chronologically young in their Kindergarten class have enrollment priority, but our program is also open to children who are extremely mature in their Preschool class. We look forward to discussing this program with parents.
